NYP post Friendly

Hello guys, i know it sux to travel a long way only to play tat 1 or 2 games or maybe wat ur would say 21 points of takraw... maybe something can be done about it next time team manager?

anyway, wateva line up we are up to, we should just play our best.... if they lousy, quickly kill them off and come out lor, if they good then good lor, got fight can play rally. Either way if we just play our best, pple have nothing to say and i tink the time is more utilized than just a gathering session.

in anyway, thanks for all those who came down. and Zhicong, welcome to team CST. :)

NUS Open Finals

Congratulations once again, we have fought well to achieve 2nd place in the NUS Open, but instead of medals, we got christmas waga jerseys..... awwwww zzzzzzzzzzz. fugly....

anyway, no one brought camera again, no photos too bad.

Semi-Finals: Against NYP, win 2-0

1st Regu kristian, bingjie, weimin; 2-1
New tekong with old frontmen combi. Perhaps it was NYP's weakest regu, as their 3rd regu definitely look much better when they started as the first in the 3rd 4th placing. A shaky start for both sides, but slowly kristian serves and my kills both got the better of them and we won the first set 22-20, letting them on a streak to catch up to us at the end... phew. bingjie is having his offs again in the 2nd set and perhaps with that catch up streak in the first set, they caught hold of their rythmn and went ahead of us easily. we lost the second set i tink 12-21. Luckily for us, we started off brightly in the third set and bingjie's setting is back! we caught the lead first and never lost it til the end. great start for CST.

2nd Regu lyeheng, eugene, roy; 2-0
with the 1st regu in hand, it has boosted the morale for our 2nd regu and we showed it straight during the warmups. Even though they had the 1.9m insane handstand, but with lyeheng's spotting serves, the 1.9 striker is kept at bay as the tekong and setter could not handle them. while mr 1.9 is in cold storage, our very own roy had a 100% strike rate. Good service, sets and kills make the 1st set look simple. though the service for the 2nd set is not as good, but the regu just brings back the service with their fantastic gameplay. finally with a controversial call from tat linesman? who ah, WHOOO? -.- and yessssss, we secured a spot in the finals with lots of time to rest.

im just still very puzzled with the lineups SP had, but wateva it is, they were strong and it doesnt matter because they r just tat confident. they won again, the '2-1' team i would call them.

3rd Regu junhan, peian, joseph
(not played)

Finals: Against SP, lost 1-2

1st Regu junhan (weiwen), peian, joseph; 0-2
fresh from the oven, we have this new debut regu that is dying to burst out and show the world what they are capable of... haha ok.... they went against SP's strongest regu, mr myanmar striker? and capt of SP, the no.7 setter. our regu definitely had nothing to lose and they really put up a good fight in the first set losing 18-21. With the score so tight, we would really wonder if only this regu had more game play experience, we probably would have cause an upset. weiwen replaced junhan for the second set, looking to shake things up a little. good first touches were made by weiwen but his effort was futile as the SP regu increased the lead and eventually sealed the game. good effort from jo with his booooms spectacular inwards flying libas hehe.

2nd Regu lyeheng, eugene roy; 2-1
When u see a chiobu as tekong and albino(sp?) as setter, you know ok tats it liaoz la haha, but this game was rather tough actually as the set results showed. Sometimes, the problem really lies within and not because of strong opponent. lyeheng couldnt really connect with roy's throw and its either net or inches wide. roy got back the service with his hard earn kills though, but when every hard earn point is just thrown away with a bad service, its just cringing for me at least. First balls seem unusually loose coming from lyeheng and eugene, but roy just never gave up. fortunately, the connection was found again and we force the finals into the deciding regu!

3rd Regu kristian (kaijun), bingjie, weimin; 0-2
was it too much rest? my regu couldnt really pick up after trailing the first few points. we only came close to equalizing and bham, we lost it again. i had quite a few blocks from mr mee siam hair striker but he was quick to adjust and deal more damage. bingjie's sets were there, but somehow i just couldnt bring it down, wasting at least 3 sets. kristian's service gone haywire a little. weiwen wasted no time in replacing kristian with kaijun, hoping to inject fresh pair of legs for the regu. by then, mr mee siam and the mr chatterbox setter already had their rythmn set and we were helpless about it. a convincing victory from their 3rd regu and we could only settle for a second place. I guess everyone would be damn elated if we beat SP because usually losing to the top team in prelims means we would win them in the FINALS~!! but apparently this tradition like didnt happen haha.

We had a good day despite not clinching the championship. Our lineups were spot on, which make our games worthwhile. Then again maybe if barney, ah nua, yongbin and the rest were around, we would have more choices to play with and turn the game around, yes, the rest.. you r being missed....

All in all, its quite a good warmup for next b division season and a good gauge for us to train up on what we are lacking and weak in. of cos our objectives as stated by mr roy, its time to up our game, being able to manipulate the striker with spot on setting and striker being able to kill specific spots. tat being said, our first touches are still weak in general and i guess with more trainings and games, we can slowly improve.
So do u feel u r stagnant? do u feel sucky? do u wanna own someone, or able to copy someone aka mr tampat? think about it, and bring ur objectives with you for the next trg, the next game, the next competition! let's go CST~

anyway, weiwen, do remember to update us on the time, venue, attire for future events, because like alot of us actually dunno the timing for today... yep, anyway good job for managing the team laaa. Thanks. tats all for now... rest well and cya on fridays or something.... CIAoz~~

Tues practice session, Friday semis/finals

Great! Thanks Weimin for the writeups!

Reminder, Tuesday night (13 Oct) is the kickabout at Eusoff.

Friday (16 Oct) is the semis. Kickoff timing to be announced.

NUS Open 09/10 Prelims

Congratulations all, we are through to the semis against NYP with 3 very strong strikers, quote karfai. 2nd is either NUS or NTU, or so i heard.... i shall confirm again.

First game: Against MOE
REGU 1 shawn, lye heng, daming
Tekong debut for Shawn. 'Ever ready to play after flying' Daming found it hard to throw for Shawn despite his WIDE ANGLE service haha. Trailing in the beginning but caught up with the game after Daming woke up and starts to deliver his kills. 2nd set, Shawn finally tink his serves gg, so he swapped with lye heng who had a high conversion rate to finish off the first regu.

REGU 2 barney, bingjie, weimin
AUG regu reunites again. Had trouble with the 'lao jiao' NTU, NIE MOE striker being able to adjust his strikes to gain points easily. However, the break comes in when the tekong and the setter cui. First set is taken with barney's service. 2nd set is a close 21-20 game. quote for the regu: "dun jaru ok? play our own style!" then i jaru an out ball which brings the game to 20-20. dun lidat la i oso took one lipat on the back of my head oso.... luckily its not being brought to the third set :D

REGU 3 kaijun, eugene, kenny
being able to play without any pressure is definitely a good thing. shaky starting as well, but everyone pick up and kenny earned points with his jiam kills and weird headers haha. perhaps a reallie good warm up game for kaijun as he had consistent service later on.
and yay our CY wedding team finally arrive.

Second game: Against SP
REGU 1 shawn, lye heng, royston
player to watch of the game: no.4 SP tekong the chiobu. ask for ball wayang his fingers, serve with such delicate posture with that tied up hair. Shawn produced some good tekong serves for the first set but again swap position with lye heng again to sum up the game. roy kills were pinpoint, either a clever drop or a jiam kill.

REGU 2 barney, bingjie, weimin
the first set was very interesting as the points were tight. they took the lead and we chased back and its back to back until 18-18 where we lost it suddenly. hongwei replaces me after a few points into the second set, debut appearance! he came in snatching a few points, scaring the opponents a little. barney's service seems harder with hongwei's good throw. another close set at 16-21.

REGU 3 kaijun, eugene, joseph
Striker debut for jo. painful falls he had but each resulted in sibei dua lut kills. eugene had some weird decisions sending 2nd balls when he was in a good position to set, probably variating the game play a little. kaijun service were consistent, but too consistent that it was easy for the opponents to take it into their game. impt point for tekong. eventually, weak first balls cause the game but it was reallie a good fight.

Nevertheless, we r thru to the semis, we shouldnt have too much regret since we r able to challenge NYP. Imagine if we first in grp, we win the 2nd which is either NTU or NUS then SP win NYP, lidat never get to challenge NYP! although we could have continue our 'unfinish' business with SP. Somehow with SP line up, personally i feel they r hiding something still, like probably some damn zai players not around then play tat chiobu. -.-
Im looking forward to the final games with NYP since karfai said they had 3 strong strikers. meanwhile ill update the rest again when i find out the grp results for the other side.

Unplayed player Peian say he damn sad haha. aaawwww. Team Management, pls dun overlook his hardwork while ur are working and hes playing with me everyday in eusoff hahaha. :P
whatever it is, lets work hard and cya all on TUESDAY for TRG, to be confirmed. stay tune to blog or check facebook events thanks.

NUS Open 09/10

It has been months since the first sepak league appearance for CST. Now in preparation for 2010 league, we have joined the NUS Open 2009/10.

Probably just a reminder for all players.
0900 - 0930 meet at MPSH in CST black Thorb warm up tee and pants.
Bring along yellow CST jersey and $10 registration fee

Most possible regu line-up (in not particular order):
Regu 1: Barney, Bingjie, Weimin
Regu 2: Jeremy, Eugene, Kenny
Regu 3: Shawn (tekong), Lye Heng, Daming
Subs: Kaijun & Hongwei

I think this carnival will be a good experience if we draw a gan strong grp like SP or NYP. Or we can meet them straight at final stages on 16 oct Friday. Either way lets hope for a good draw tml.
SIM SMU oso dun mind :P

With limited practices and time constraints, let's just hope we can play to our best. We have always been playing with a lower net, hence we might experience some difficulty with the height of the net, especially tekongs and strikers.
Shawn will finally start as a tekong, because he believes in his tekong 'physique' comment during the first league haha. Anyway quite true la, u see the thialand, tekong and striker sibei tall one, then the setter is eh kia.
Oh and let's welcome Hongwei who will start in one of tml's game for his debut.
Rusty, rusty, rusty is all i can say with everyone having different commitments. Let's just play our best tml and start to re-mould the regus as we go along. Ill be trying to update this sibei dead blog whenever i can, everyone just feel free to put in any comments. Can be written for trgs and competitions to bitch (haha) about pple or umpires or whoever, or if ur spot any chiobus during our games also can comment.

postings are not meant to be malicious but more for fun and engagement from everyone la hor. pardon my cui english and let's revive this blog together! :)

btw i just set up a facebook grp, for those no facebook, eh nm, for those who have help me check who i left out, thanks.
